Thanos was right after all.

Thanos

Fine, I’ll do it myself.

Oh Thanos, if only these words had hit home to me a little sooner. The past four years have taught me if you want anything done right, do it yourself. That holds true for making a quality pastry, doing some light DIY at home, and certainly if you want to make anything close to a lucrative salary in the workplace.

Having worked my way from the shop floor as a CNC lathe operator to an office position at the manufacturing company I am currently employed at, most people would believe that would be the tenured step to guaranteed financial success. Ten years ago, I would have thought that would be true. Life is good, all expenses will be covered from here on out! Fast forward to August 2024 and that could not be further from the truth with the way inflation is going through the roof and the median income is not rising with it.

Why is any of this relevant?

I find many content creators on social media, particularly Threads, talking about how you need to start your own business. They also preach content creation, and that dreaded buzzword phrase of “affiliate marketing.” I find that a lot of the creator’s on these platforms are luring people in with these headlines. Then, they lock the answers behind a paywall for the content creator’s premium courses. Not a bad tactic, but it makes it tough for the little guy.

While I understand the intent behind their motives, seeing as this is their main source of income, this leaves many people left out to dry who likely don’t have the spare cash to gamble on whether or not the course will actually get their business or ideas off the ground. Not to mention there is likely 100’s of creator’s advertising similar courses. Which one should they even choose? I myself felt as if I was in that boat seeing all of these apparently successful people marketing all of these “step by step” guides. For a premium of course.

Now I’m not trying to bash anybody, as those creators are raising awareness like no other people are. They have opened my eyes to the possibilities just like their eyes were opened previously as well. I’m looking to learn what I can from them and apply it to my own life and see what I can make of it.

The reason for this blog

I am starting this blog for one simple reason: to document my own journey. I’m looking to learn all I can about tech, coding, finances, etc., and how to apply that to my own business model. I’ll keep track of what’s working on the social media side, and document it here. I want to contribute to as unbiased a model I can so that people can have a reference to figure these things out without having to pay the premiums. I plan to figure out a way to monetize it along the way, just not by charging you. Big companies have lots of money, we just have to figure out how to leverage that ourselves.

I plan on sharing tips that I learn
